Background

I have been active in the Republican Party for years, having served as a precinct leader and attending multiple state, county and house assemblies, counting votes on teller committees, and volunteering at the County party headquarters. I have also helped with the campaigns of Steve Ward for State Senate, Candy Figa for House District 38, Dave Kerber for House District 38, and Susan Beckman for Arapahoe County Commissioner and when she ran for Littleton City Council. I even remember attending Phil Pankey fund raisers out at Bow Mar Lake.

In addition to helping on candidate campaigns I have also been active in local issue campaigns important to Republicans, such as helping to defeat a ballot initiative to permanently de-Bruce Littleton, and to defeat a $24 million bond issue to build a police expansion. (As Mayor I later helped get the building built using cash, saving taxpayers a total of $18 million - $9 million in financing and $9 million in building costs.)

I was first elected to Littleton City Council in 1995 and again in 2005 and 2007, serving a total of ten years on the Council and four years as Mayor. I have served on the boards of the Metro Mayors Caucus, the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, and the Riverfront Authority.

My service on City Council and the other boards has given me experience in issues faced by County Commissioners such as zoning, transportation, water, sewer, public safety, storm drainage, flood control, and budgeting.

I have lived in Arapahoe County for 26 years, 21 of those in Littleton. My wife grew up in Littleton. Cathy and I have been married for 25 years and we have two daughters in college. Outside of City Council I have worked in the manufacturing, aerospace and medical industries in production control, program management, software development, and most recently in consulting. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1977 with a Bachelors of Science in Philosophy.

I hope you will honor me with your support for Arapahoe County Commissioner in District One.
